URBAN OASIS: Subtropical Inner-City School
by Riley Pownall
Detailed information/workflow about the image
As Australian cities densify, the sprawling, open schooling model needs to be revisited to suit smaller, urban blocks. This building aims to combine a generic, high density schooling typology, with the openness and connection to nature which is essential to Australian schools. Set in an inner-city suburb of Brisbane, Australia, this schooling model will become crucial to the cities development as it sees unforeseen growth in the lead up to the 2032 Olympics.
My workflow for the diagrams, was to first sketch out a series of ideas to answer the problem I wanted to answer. Then, I took to Sketchup to model the context, creating each iteration of my chosen idea. Finally, the details and graphics were added in Illustrator, before arranging the document in InDesign.
