The transparant Crown Hall

Detailed information/workflow about the image
Mies his words describing Crown Hall were that it's “almost nothing”. It has a minimal construction style what really embodies the openness. And exactly that is what this image represents. Depicted at night, with almost no environmental light present. The construction blends with the darkness of the sky and only the interior light is visible, capturing the openness of the architecture. The viewer gets pulled in to Crown Hall by the use of high contrast lighting and perspective lines of the tiles in the front, soft shadows of people and the construction of the building itself.. Color palette is simple, consisting of a few blueish tones. The woodwork on the inside is the only spark of warmth. Software: Sketch-up with Twilight render for a simple model with lighting references. Everything else has been done with post processing on an iPad Pro, with Procreate and Lightroom.
PS. if you look closely, you may even find Mies standing somewhere.
